Pat's Brown Woodland Rivers Guide Service

Guide Pat Moore

Pat Moore is one of Woodland Rivers head guides for trout, salmon and steelhead destination fly-fishing trips. Pat Moore started fly fishing at eight years old when his father bought him an Eagle Claw glass fly rod for Christmas. Spending years with his father and brothers fishing private ranch water on the South Platte River in Colorado on summer vacations, he developed a deep passion for the sport. After leaving high school, Pat attended Colorado State University and studied fisheries biology under renowned professors Dr. Robert Behnki and Dr. Kurt Fausch During his time at CSU and for some time after, Pat had hands on experience understanding and improving trout habitat with the Colorado Division of Wildlife and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service. Working with Key Fish Biologist such as Jeff Thomas and Ken Bovie This education and experience has served Pat’s clients well as he is able to provide a deep understanding of the environment, trout behavior and habitat protection. Pat started his professional fly fishing career as a guide for Gore Creek Fly Fisherman in Vail, Colorado in 1989. After a few years of learning the ropes, he took the leap to fly shop ownership with an Orvis dealership in Avon, Colorado. After deciding that he preferred the water to running a shop, Pat went back to guiding for Roy Palm at the Fryingpan Anglers in Basalt, CO. While guiding in Colorado, Pat received a call from friend Kelly Galloup who wanted to have him come and apply his experience in Northern Michigan. Pat had always wanted to get back closer to home and the large trout and salmon that live in the surrounding Northern Michigan rivers. Pat served as the head guide for Kelly Galloup at the Troutsman in Traverse City, Michigan for six years. At present, Pat is conveniently located in Grayling, MI and guides on the Upper Manistee and Ausable Rivers for trout, the Betsie for salmon and steelhead and a few other Michigan River systems. If you are looking for a professional experience start to finish with a wealth of knowledge to share, then Pat Moore is the Guide for you!

Craig Watters Woodland Rivers Guide Service

Guide: Craig Watters

Craig "Muddy" Watters came into this world with a fishing rod in his hand, grin on his face and fish running through his veins. He was taught by his father and grandfather about the ettiquette and techniques necessary to be a respected angler. Born in Saginaw and growing up in Northern Michigan, he discovered that his first love was Mother Nature along with her natural wonders and beauty. No wonder his passion for fishing would later become his chosen profession. Muddy knew that he graduated as a guide when he realized that he received more enjoyment from teaching others to catch fish rather than doing the catching himself. Whether you are a young kid or an 80 year old adult, building dreams through the experience is 'Muddy's' specialty. The outfiitters that he has guided for had recognized early in his career his natural gift of patience and his ability to teach novice fly anglers as well as advanced anglers the art and science of fishing. With 17 years of experience as a professional guide under his wading belt, he will not only get you into fish but will hook you into what he believes you came for; to decompress, share some good times and laughter. Muddy has been fortunate enough to work for sought out lodges and outfitters from Alaska down through the Rockies, along with his home state of Michigan. In his home waters, he preys upon the line streachin' King salmon, steelhead along with micro midge sippin' trout and everyfin' in between. You may want to do your self a favor and give Craig a shot and fish with him in his home office, the pristine Michigan rivers...If you wish to fish, let's hook up and recharge your soul!

Guide: Jason C. Davis

Mr. Davis lives in Oxford, MI and is Woodland Rivers head guide for local fly-fishing trips. Jason likes to target trout, salmon and steelhead. Jason is "bug certified" by the Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC) which greatly helps him in his ability to identify the aquatic insects that fish are feeding on. Jason began trout fishing in a northern MI brook trout stream at age seven. Like most young anglers, he began as a spinning rod guy. As the years passed and his knowledge of trout increased he converted over to fly-fishing. At the age of 18 he became a strict fly-fisherman. Since then Mr. Davis has chased trout in almost every trout river in the lower peninsula. Jason is also our head fly-casting instructor. He is also an active member of Clinton Valley Trout Unlimited (CVTU) and has participated in many TU activities including stream restoration projects, promoting TU at local fly-fishing expos and giving presentations at monthly TU meetings. Jason is also the Adopt-A-Stream coordinator for the Clinton River Watershed Council (CRWC). His duties there include: stream monitoring, educating the general public on matters concerning our watershed and promoting conservation efforts in our area. Finally, Jason is also a wildlife artist specializing in converting his clients prized catches into artwork that they can cherish for a lifetime.
